ZF-2 is a magnesium-based, natural, and eco-friendly flame retardant product characterized by its high whiteness, significant weight loss upon ignition, and low impurity content. This product is suitable for use in polymer systems—such as thermoplastic or cross-linked polyolefins and elastomers—as well as in eco-friendly flame-retardant boards, wood-plastic composites, and other related environmental applications. Flame-retardant polymer materials formulated with ZF-2 exhibit comprehensive performance characteristics, including excellent mechanical strength, superior char-forming capabilities, and effective smoke suppression properties.

ZF-2 is a natural hydromagnesite — a basic magnesium carbonate mineral — serving as a highly effective halogen-free flame retardant and smoke suppressant, particularly valuable in synergistic formulations with magnesium hydroxide or aluminium hydroxide.

Key specifications include a main content of ≥94%, a high loss on ignition at 900 °C of ≥55%, a median particle size (d50) of 2.5 μm, and Hunter whiteness of ≥96. Low calcium oxide (CaO ≤ 1.5%) and iron oxide (Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.05%) contents reflect the quality of the mineral source and processing. ZF-2 undergoes a two-stage endothermic decomposition between 220–400 °C — first releasing water, then carbon dioxide — providing prolonged cooling and enabling lower total filler loadings compared with single-component inorganic systems.

The combined water and CO₂ release delivers excellent char formation and smoke suppression. In co-formulations with magnesium hydroxide or aluminium hydroxide, synergistic improvements in both fire performance and mechanical properties are achievable.

Suitable for thermoplastic and crosslinked polyolefins, elastomers, and eco-friendly flame-retardant boards and wood-plastic composites. Surface treatment grades A (hydrophobicity, dispersibility) and S (superior hydrophobicity, elongation, and processing flowability) are available.
